Salon Marketing for the Holidays

The Fall and Winter holidays present huge opportunities to capitalize on marketing initiatives for your business. In fact, according to the NRF, sales in November and December represent 20% of annual retail sales each year! 

Below we’ve gathered five fresh and festive ideas to help your salon gain during the holidays.

1. Offer festive gift packages.

Holiday shopping tends to be one of the most stressful components of the season. Take some weight off your clients shoulders by offering pre-made gift packages. You can put together three to four different bundles so that you have gifts to cover every loved one on their list! And don’t forget about gift cards—people love the idea and this ensures someone will be back to visit your salon.

2. Offer de-stressing treatments or self-care packages.

This is as easy as an add-on to a cut and color service. Promote three different holiday-inspired treatments that busy and bustling clients running in after their day full of shopping won’t be able to resist. 3. Send a Holiday card.

You might not see immediate cash flow, but in the long run, this will pay off in spades. Goodwill between clients and salons is a huge factor in re-booking clientele. If they feel a connection to your business, they are much more likely to come back. 

You can use a fun picture of the staff or simply find a festive stock image. If you can, include a coupon!

4. Decorate the salon.

Be both festive and efficient in your holiday decorations. We all know and love the typical decor that fills shops, windows and yards during the Winter months. However, there are certain things you can put together that are creative and educational.

For example, create seasonal window signs or shelf-talkers that highlight why your organic and non-toxic hair care products make the best holiday gifts. You can also include tips that will help guests decide which gift package will work best for different friends and family.

5. Get in the Holiday spirit.

Partner with a local charity to raise awareness, supplies or money for the cause. Another option is to host a raffle for one of your favorite charities. 

Promote your fundraiser online, on social media and even in your voicemail greeting. If your salon is able, think about offering an incentive to donate—whether that be a raffle ticket to win a free gift or service, a coupon or a discount code to be redeemed at their next visit.
