“The inspiration for this collection came when I was using the new oils in our Moroccan Organics line. The delicate scents of Rose and Macadamia had me reminiscing of the 70’s-inspired film, Hideous Kinky; where Kate Winslet and her daughters move from London to Morocco,” says Simply Organic Education Director, Rebecca Gregory.
“The softness and simplicity of Kate’s hair had me thinking,” Rebecca continues,
“Boho hair can be unstructured and messy without looking unhealthy or dry.”
Although these looks are inspired from the deserts of Morocco, oils are the hair’s oasis and ensure even the most textured styles are soft and shiny.
Armed with their favorite geometric and floral head scarfs, Rebecca Gregory and Simply Organic Creative Director, Jennifer Andrews headed to California to collaborate with American Salon photographer, Robert Lynden.
Together, they captured a stellar combination of sleek, modern styles, while evoking a little unkempt sexiness from decades past.
“We wanted our collection to embody that retro feel without losing sight of current hair trends. That’s why we chose in-demand hairstyles that are easily achievable for your everyday client,” says Andrews.
Below, the Simply Organic Team shares how you can re-create these boho chic styles at your salon.
HOW TO CREATE BOHO CHIC HAIR
BOLD BANGS & TOUSLED TEXTURE
Bold bangs are always a fall-favorite – now, try pairing them with ’70s-inspired waves and messy texture, and your client will be ready to go. Bonus points, if you add in a few crimped pieces or tiny braids.
The blonde model’s hair was spritzed in individual sections with Simply Organic Volume Spray and set with a large-barrel curling iron. Then the curls were softly brushed out to create a more carefree, tousled look.
The red-haired model’s entire head was crimped, while a few small, tight braids were added around the face, then released to add textural interest. Moroccan Organics Hair Spray set the look, while adding incredible shine.
A FIERCE FISHTAIL BRAID
Demand for braids is poised to skyrocket this season, as can be seen by the unprecedented rise of pop-up braid bars in major cities around the world. Counted among fall’s hottest hair trends is the fishtail braid.
Styling Tip: The tighter you weave your strands, the more controlled your braid will appear. To create a messier braid, gently pull the braid’s right and left side away from each other.
This look was locked in with Moroccan Organics Hairspray and Argan Oil for lustrous shine.
SLEEK & SOFT WAVES
Help your clients take advantage of autumn’s weather with sleek strands and soft waves that last all day.
The red-haired model’s look was created with Simply Organic’s Bangs & Ends Cream and Moroccan Organics Rose Oil for shape and sheen.
The brunette’s soft, romantic waves were created with hot rollers and brushed out before being paired with an iconic middle-part. Moroccan Organics’ Argan Oil was worked into the hair from nape to crown, adding a bit of backcombing for some lift. A mist of Moroccan Organics’ Hairspray kept the look in place.
